# Mission: Pregnancy & Becoming a Parent (UK / NHS)

## Why
Greg ("Bean") and Hannah ("Pud Pud") are expecting their first child. LMP 2 Aug 2026; **due Sunday 9 May 2027**. Greg is sole director/employee of TWP Agency, a business he has only just started; Hannah is at Herman Miller on a one-year maternity-cover contract expiring **28 May 2027**, nineteen days after the due date. Money and job security are therefore live constraints, not background ones. He is starting from near-zero knowledge and wants to be a genuinely useful partner and competent parent — not a bystander who defers every decision to her, the midwife, or the internet.

## Success looks like
- Can explain where the pregnancy is on the clock, what happens next, and why — without looking it up
- Knows every NHS appointment, scan, test and decision point before it arrives, and what the choices actually are
- Has done the logistics on time: self-referral, leave, money, kit — nothing missed by deadline
- Walks into the birth room knowing his job, the likely paths, and the warning signs
- Can hold, change, settle, and feed a newborn confidently in week one — not learning on the job

## Constraints
- UK, NHS care pathway. Ground everything in NHS / NICE / RCOG / Tommy's, not US sources.
- Near-zero starting knowledge: define every term, assume nothing.
- Front-load the essentials: map the whole arc first, then go deep. Not a week-by-week drip.
- Single-income risk: no employer keeps trading without Greg, and Hannah's job ends weeks after the birth. Lessons on money and work must be practical and deadline-driven.
- ~36 weeks of runway from Aug 2026. Time-sensitive items (self-referral, folic acid, paternity notice) beat interesting ones.

## Out of scope (for now)
- Fertility, conception, TTC — already past that
- Toddler/childhood parenting beyond ~6 months
- Pregnancy complications in depth, unless one becomes relevant
